Sean Dolan

Sean Dolan is a Visiting Lecturer in Georgia Tech’s School of Literature, Media, and Communication, where he teaches undergraduate research writing and communication. In LMC 4701 and LMC 4702, he works with students across disciplines as they develop research proposals and theses, with an emphasis on communicating research questions, methods, findings, and significance to varied audiences. His broader teaching interests include narrative inquiry, ethnography, multimodal composition, and the use of writing to interpret and communicate the social world.

Sean is a cultural anthropologist (PhD, Emory University, 2019) whose research examines the intersection of religion, markets, and technical systems in Muslim Southeast Asia. His research in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, focuses particularly on halal standards and certification and the ways religious concepts and practices are translated into contemporary regulatory and commercial systems.
