Personal Pronouns:
he/himMichael Young is a writing teacher who studies the history of writing education. He received his PhD in 2024 from Penn State University, and he joins Georgia Tech as a Brittain fellow, teaching composition courses and consulting in the Naugle Writing and Communication Center. He has published work on rhetorical history in the Quarterly Journal of Speech, and his current research project is about the history of mis/disinformation pedagogies in general education. In addition to first-year writing, he has taught classes in rhetoric, civics, religious history, technical writing, and science writing.
