En Transit

Un Film project realisé par:
- Sara Hornbacher
- Harmut Koenitz
- Kenneth Knoespel

EN TRANSIT transforms Walter Ruttman's Berlin: die Sinfonie der GroBstadt (1927) into a scrim through which we negotiate the space of cities. Benjamin's words appear and disappear like a robber who asks us to empty our pockets and changes our direction home. Layer upon layer of space becomes refigured in a trauerarbeit that links our space to the archaeology of cities.

Yves Abrioux

Yves Abrioux (GVU Brown Bag Lecture Series)

The very nature of the objects and practices enabled by digital media point towards an altogether richer, more creative approach to the collections of fine arts museums, in terms not only of acts of interpretation or appropriation but also of interactions between real and/or virtual visitors. Building on the preliminary work conducted in a graduate seminar on the future of the museum, co-taught with Kenneth Knoespel and Sara Hornbacher, I presented a possible model for a possible model for re-involving the public in art and the museum, which puts the 'media' firmly back into mediation.
